Welcome to my Blueview Art Studio, a small independent Gallery which I run from my garden.  Find us tucked away down a quiet little lane in South Ferring by the beach car park.  There is parking on site with wheel chair access.

The Studio was formed after taking part in Worthing Artists Open Houses (WAOH) in 2016. With the help of my lovely supportive husband, we transformed our outbuilding in to the Gallery when we started hosting Open Houses in 2017.

It might be small, but the studio is packed full of creativity and many of our products are made from repurposed materials and created with love. Our range includes original Photography and Photographic Gifts for the home, hand crafted silver Jewellery, Stained glass and wood. We also offer Gift Vouchers which are valid for twelve months.

Since 2017 I have invited a number of artists to collaborate with me and each year there are two resident artists who exhibit in the studio, but there are opportunities for other local artists to participate throughout the year.

Contact me if you’re interested.

My vision for Blueview was always to support local artists and the community we live in and is based on my personal experience and empathy for struggling local artists wanting to provide the public with beautiful and unique art. It is borne out of my mission to make Blueview Art Studio an inspirational art hub for the village. We enjoy taking part in local events and supporting the community by donating prizes for local causes.

I do hope you feel inspired by what we have to offer and look forward to helping you obtain that perfect gift.  Please visit our Gallery page for more information and our Shop on Facebook.

About Me

Cathy Verney

Here’s a little something about me…..

I was born in England, but brought up in Belgium; on returning to England after eleven years, much of my time was spent playing sports or doing art.  The opportunity to join Northbrook Art College was delayed in favour of completing my ‘A’ levels after which I embarked on four years at Art College studying Art & Design with Photography.

As I developed in the field of Art, I found my niche with Photography. A move to London followed where I lived and worked for several years, including an amazing time spent at The National Portrait Gallery.

At the very end of the 20th century I returned home and five years on I met and married my gorgeous husband, Mike. However, it wasn’t until we moved to Ferring in 2011 that my photography started to take off and I have been selling my

work ever since.

My passion for Photography has stayed with me all these years and every time I go out there’s something that just has to be captured; be it the light, colour, texture or land/seascapes. Turner and Monet, amongst others, were artists who have influenced my approach to art and photography and inspired my love for capturing that moment in time.

I have fond memories of creating my first pin hole camera before learning to use a 35mm film camera (dinosaurs these days, but still jolly good) until we then set foot in a dark room with its ambience and chemical smells, a washing line with pegs hanging overhead waiting to hold up our emerging images.

For one year I had the pleasure of teaching photography to a class in Year 6 at a local primary school. I must own about eight or nine different cameras and still have two that I am yet to try out.

As a semi-professional Photographer I would love to travel for work or purely enjoyment, spending six months in the Caribbean photographing sting rays or on safari capturing wild animals. My life is somewhat tamer, but by no means less enjoyable.

Being invited to participate in Worthing Artists Open Houses (WAOH) in 2016 was a turning point for me and since 2017

I have hosted my own WAOH. That same year, I began volunteering at St. Paul’s Art Centre in Worthing where Worthing Portrait Artist of the Year was created. We aim to resume this fabulous community event in 2021.

Indulging in my other passion, cats, has resulted in us now having six. Besides my love of animals, my other interests

include line dancing, crafting and painting, which I hope to do more of in the future.

Other places where you might find my work includes Pier Road Coffee & Art Gallery, Beach Road Gallery, both in Littlehampton and Rassasy Deli & Farm Shop, Ferring. My photography is like my music…eclectic and varied and I hope it proves inspirational to you.
